  • Trade shows are unique in that the participants and visitors are all keenly interested in a particular area, which shows intent. However, not everyone is curious for the same reason. People have widely varying reasons for attending trade events, and this is important to keep in mind.
  • Organizers and participants must do a lot more to derive ROI from exhibitions and events. They must come with preparation to be able to engage meaningfully with visitors. And they must proactively gather information and follow up with visitors. Unfortunately, participants are often clueless about best practices, and simple trinket giveaways at booths do not result in getting more business.
  • Today digital platforms and tools do enable organizers and participants to create personalized experiences for visitors, engage better and follow through. On the part of the organizer, they must ensure there are enough visitors. Exhibitors, in turn, must create good messaging, position themselves well, ensure nurturing and build lead-up programmes before the event to start conversations with prospects.
