- We are all selling ourselves, all the time. Our behavior in how we sell ourselves reflects on our brand. Most importantly, if we don’t define our own brand, others will define it for us. We are also constantly fighting the preconceived notions people have about us— and these preconceived notions often diminish the true value of our contribution.
- While “Sell Yourself” is a ubiquitous adage, people forget that the operative word in that phrase is “Sell, ” which most people are so afraid of. But the fact is that we are all selling, but using different terms to define that act of selling, such as “convincing”, “persuading”, or “getting buy-in”. The author believes it is imperative to classify this act of selling as it should be, as “Selling”, and her aim is to help people get over the disdain of ‘selling’.
- Most ordinary people, that is people who are not celebrities or social personalities, do not have a brand ‘plan’, which is why others assign a brand to them. The first step to selling your own brand is to find out what brand people have given to you already. This helps to plan what core words need to be in your plan to sell the brand that you wish to. The book takes readers through the process of rebranding themselves, if necessary, or branding better.
